I can hardly believe we’re nearing the end of March! This year is flying by and yet I feel like I’m still trying to get my feet underneath me in some ways.
We successfully completed our move and are settling in at our new place. For only moving about half a mile, this certainly was a huge undertaking! Once we were in the new house, we had a few weeks of “hunt and peck” life, where you had to stop and think about everything you needed and where it was stored before you were able to retrieve it. Now things are running more smoothly and the unpacking is very nearly done. It feels good to have new routines and to be finding a place for everything and everything in its place.
Shortly after moving, I took time to finish the manuscript I was working on. I made a deadline to reach The End, and I did! How wonderful to see another story through to completion. I’ve started having lots of ideas for stories I’m still developing, and it’s fun to dream about diving into something new.
A couple months ago I was finally able to share my new author photos! You can see them here if you would like. They were taken by EAH Creative and I love how they turned out.
Over Christmas break my baby brother got engaged! We love his fiancee and she already feels like family. They are planning a late summer wedding, and so is another brother just a few weeks later. I also have a brother graduating from Pensacola Christian College in May and I plan to travel to Florida to celebrate with him. It’s going to be a busy season with these happy occasions coming up!
Recently two of our cats gave birth to kittens! Because we have two fixed male cats we weren’t in a hurry to get the two little females we took in last autumn spayed, but the first time they went into heat they managed to get out of the house and, well, now we have ten kittens between the two litters. They’re really cute! You can see pictures from when they were first born here and here. Both mama cats came to me when they were in labor and I got to be with them when all ten kittens were born. That was not expected, but what an amazing experience! I’ll have more pictures to share once the kittens are old enough for us to play with and hold. The mamas now have appointments at the vet for after their babies are weaned.
The school year is going well as I tutor my 40 students. We’re in the final quarter of the year now and it’s hard to believe we can see summer break on the horizon. Didn’t our last summer break end just a few weeks ago?!
This has been a season full of both difficulties and blessings, and through it all the Lord has been so faithful. I couldn’t have made it through all I needed to do without His help. I’m also thankful for my family and church family too.
I hope that you are enjoying a beautiful spring and can also testify of the Lord’s goodness. It’s a great time of year to reflect on all He’s brought us through!
